Caribbean holidays, all about the sun and the Celebs, but we should know more

The Caribbean is best known for the fact it provides luxury holidays. For years and years, celebrities have chosen the Caribbean as there get-away vacation? If you would like to find out a quick few things about the Caribbean then I implore you to read this post. With this in mind, it may be found that more people will investigate more into the islands history and culture before embarking on a holiday.

Mentioned above was the term collection of islands. The Caribbean is made up of more than 7000 islands, islets and reefs, much more than people usually think. The entire Caribbean has a population of about 30 million people currently living there. It was expected that before Spain, France and England started to colonise these islands, the population was around seven hundred thousand.

So that’s the general gist of the base facts now for something a little better known. Christopher Columbus arrived at the Caribbean in 1492, and this is where the name the West Indies comes from. The Indies in Asia was the spot that Columbus thought he had arrived at, this is why the Caribbean received this name. So you could head to areas in the Bahamas on luxury holidays and find out some interesting information on Columbus route.

The Caribbean is also one of the most Bio Diverse regions in the world. In an effort to try and save the remaining wildlife in and around these islands the area has been classed as a Conservation International Hot-Spot. Because of the arrival of the Europeans in the late 15th century, many of the species were either wiped out or forced close to extinction. It even used to have some animals that were only found in the Caribbean, like the Giant owl. Because of the arrival of Europeans in the earlier centuries, species have now been driven to endangerment.

So visit the Caribbean on Caribbean holidays and learn about new cultures and environments. The Tourism industry is booming in this location, and becoming more famous. Tobago holidays have been a massively growing tourist attraction.
