Breaks In Blackpool, England and Facts You Should Know

Blackpool is a seaside town sited on the North West coast of England, which is intensely popular with visitors coming from the close by cities and towns which include Warrington, Liverpool, Warrington and more. The town is also fanatically popular with folk from Scotland who turn up in large groups in a similar fashion to the groups of factory workers of the past on their factory vacation. Occasionally it would appear that the seaside resort is nothing but guest houses and tourist attractions and although there is a large amount of bed & breakfast accommodation in Blackpool it is better to book ahead to be sure. Hotels varies from cheaper lodgings to 5 star. Many are situated on the sea front and, if you prefer stay something more peaceful there are a few in the suburbs.

Blackpool first started getting visitors in the eighteenth century who had visited to indulge inĀ  the new practice of sea bathing. With the arrival of the railways, from 1846, Blackpool witnessed more and more folk arriving to"take the cure" as sea bathing as it was referred to then. Nowadays you can get to Blackpool by air, train or car arriving there much faster than the early Victorian folk who could take up to two days from as close by as Manchester.

The Blackpool Pleasure Beach

The busiest attraction in Blackpool, in Lancashire on the north west coast of England, which manages to receive roughly 7 million visitors every 12 months, is Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Blackpool's Pleasure Beach is a large scale funfair with breath taking big rides, for example Valhalla, the Pepsi Max Big One, Grand National, Ice Blast, Zipper Dipper and Wild Mouse, as well as many more roller coasters, sideshows, children's rides, thrill rides, entertainments, games and sidestalls. The most recent thrill ride is Infusion, the world's first to have a suspended looping type of coaster all of it over water.

Please note: If you are planning to visit the Pleasure Beach as a group or family it is possible to make considerable savings by buying an unlimited ride wristband especially if you will be going on as many rides as you can handle as the individual cost of each ride soon amounts to serious cash.

Getting There And Bed And Breakfast

As mentioned earlier in this article, Blackpool is very easy to get to nowadays as you are able to get to the resort by air, road or train. If you are arriving by train you will, probably, be using the main railway station in Blackpool, Blackpool North situated on Talbot Road. Not too far away, a little further down the road is where you will find the main bus station. The other railway station, Blackpool South, is at Waterloo Road, which is better for those wanting the Pleasure Beach. Blackpool's International Airport is located some two miles south of the town centre and was previously called, Blackpool Squires Gate Airport, One of the oldest airports in Great Britain.

Bed and breakfast accommodation in Blackpool is usually priced reasonably. Rooms are cheaper off season and more expensive on Saturday and Sunday. Hotels in Blackpool are at their most expensive during the Blackpool Illuminations, which is really Blackpool's peak season.

A handy tip: Some hotels and guest houses can be very busy and rather noisy especially those found between North Pier and Central Pier. If you rather stay somewhere not so busy try booking a place past the North Pier.
